Social Compliance
Full compliance with our COC protocol is essential for the health of our business and our workers. We believe strongly in the doctrine of Corporate, Social and Environmental Responsibility and consider it a key ingredient to sustainable success in the future for ourselves and our partners.
Our factory partners must recognize the dignity of each employee, and the right to a workplace free of harassment, abuse or corporal punishment. Decisions on hiring, salary, benefits, advancement, termination or retirement must be based solely on the employee’s ability to do the job. There shall be no discrimination based on race, creed, gender, marital or maternity status, religious or political beliefs, age, or sexual orientation.
Wherever Youngstown operates around the globe, we are guided by this Code of Conduct and we bind our factory partners to these principles.
Youngstown believes that by simply meeting standards, a company and its workers can only go so far. The only way to become truly exceptional at what you do as an individual and as a company is to exceed any standard that is put before you.
Below are a few items in which Youngstown goes above and beyond the standard to create a sound, productive and healthy factory environment for its workers:
Working in a factory has its risks. We want our workers to know that they will be taken care of not only while on the job, but that care also extends beyond the factory and into their future. Our factory provides five (5) types of social insurance for all employees that include: (1) retirement, (2) illness or injury, (3) disability, (4) unemployment, and (5) maternity leave.
Factory employees are taught new and more efficient ways in which to do things while successful systems are reinforced as it pertains to production management. We continually invest in new technology that will make us more technical and efficient at what we do. By taking this approach, we can offer the most technical products to our customers at the highest quality for the best value.
We take great pride in offering our workers an environment that is both safe and healthy in which to work in. We routinely conduct and document inspections of all machinery to ensure that the machines are working properly and safe for worker’s use. We also conduct routine fire and evacuation drills so in the rare case of an occurrence, the workers will know the proper procedures leading up to a safe evacuation. We routinely conduct inspections to ensure that all fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, first aid kits, as well as all factory management are up-to-date in the case of any unfortunate event.
In light of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the U.S., our government has asked all importers to enforce heightened security measures for all of our overseas shipments. Youngstown has implemented strict safety standards to ensure the safety of all cargo being imported into the United States and all other countries around the world. These standards are regularly monitored, inspected and challenged to ensure that our standard goes above and beyond what is called for.
